What is postpartum period?

The postpartum period, also known as the postnatal period, is the time period immediately following the birth of a baby.

This period typically lasts for six weeks, during which a woman's body undergoes numerous physical & hormonal changes as it recovers from pregnancy & childbirth.

During the postpartum period, the uterus contracts & returns to its pre-pregnancy size, & the body sheds the lining of the uterus.

Which can cause vaginal bleeding & discharge (lochia). Hormonal changes may cause mood swings, fatigue, and other physical & emotional symptoms.

Women may also experience physical discomfort or pain as their bodies heal from any tearing or incisions made during childbirth.

It's important for women to take care of themselves during this time and to seek medical attention if they experience any concerning symptoms.

Postpartum care may involve follow-up visits with a healthcare provider, monitoring for signs of infection or complications, & managing any physical or emotional challenges that arise.
